From 1st April, 2023 Government of India has rolled out new EPR regime for Manufacturers, Producer and Refurbisher of e-Waste. Recyclers are considered part of the Producer/manufacturer supply chain in circular economy. As per environment laws currently in force in India, targets have been set for both Reduction of Hazardous Substances and take back and recycling of end of life products placed in Indian market so that the Authorised Recyclers Registered with the Central Pollution Control Board can recycle the end of life products or refurbish them and again place them back in market. The EPR targets are based on average shelf life of products individually. As a recycler it is the duty of recycler to recycle and recover useful key materials which go into making of the products. The entire EPR regime has been digitized and in phased manner better compliance is achieved in meeting EPR obligations of producers. Epragathi as an Authorised Recycler has the necessary compliances in place to offer EPR credits to producers. All EPR transactions are managed centrally in the Online portal where all producers are registered. Manual systems are discontinued once the portal becomes completely operational and free from system migration/implementation issues.
